Birds of South Florida and the Prairies

The number of participants for each trip is limited to 8.  This allows for a more personalized tour and an even more enjoyable trip.
   Tours start in Florida City and end at the Miami International Airport.  Each trip includes 3 nights and 3 full birding days with Larry Manfredi.
 First night - You will spend the night at a quality hotel in Homestead/Florida City.
 Day 1 - We will meet in the lobby of the hotel at 7:00 a.m.  We'll spend the day in the Miami area looking for the specialties, such as Spot-Breasted Oriole, Red-Whiskered Bulbul, White-Winged Parakeet, Yellow-Chevronned Parakeet, Monk Parakeet, Eurasian Collared Dove, Indian Hill Myna, Common Myna, Snail Kite, and Burrowing Owls, returning to the hotel that evening.
 Day 2 - We will leave the hotel at 7:00 a.m. spending the first part of the day in Everglades National Park. The birds that you can expect to see today include Purple Gallinule, Wood Stork, White-Crowned Pigeon, Short-Tailed Hawk, Anhinga, Florida Red-Shouldered Hawk, Bald Eagle, Shiny Cowbird. We'll also see numerous wading birds such as Spoonbills, Great White Heron, and Least Bittern.
We will leave Everglades National Park around 3:00 p.m. and head north towards the Lake Okeechobee area.  On the way we will look for Barn Owls and the endangered Red-Cockaded Woodpecker.  We will spend the night at the Best Western in Lake Placid.
 Day 3 - We will leave once again at 7:00 a.m.  Today, we'll look for the Florida Scrub Jay, Crested Caracara, Florida Sandhill Crane, Bachman's Sparrow, Brown-Headed Nuthatch.  We also have a chance at seeing Wild Turkeys as well as Short-Tailed Hawks. 
We will head back to Miami stopping by Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge  looking for Smooth-Billed Ani, Fulvous-Whistling Duck, Limpkin, and possibly a Snail Kite
